Office buildings II

This is an image of the buildings which are the latest additions to "Forskningsparken" complex, or Oslo Innovation Center, close to the University of Oslo.  Not the most exiting angle for to shot from, but the reflection made it a bit more interesting. The pond is in front of the new building for the Department of Informatics at the University of Oslo. (See post titled "Office buildings I")

Office buildings I

This is the new building for the Department of Informatics at the University of Oslo. I have used a ND graduated filter to darken the sky two steps. With the camera I used, I think I could have brought some of those details back without the ND filter, but it would have required more post processing.

Looking up

As I have mentioned, I tend to be more content with simple motifs or scenes reduced to their bare essentials. This is another example of such a scene - complementary colors; branches with and without leaves.

Vigeland Sculpture Park

The Vigeland Sculpture Park in Oslo is popular with locals as well as tourists. The park is one of the cities green lungs and a popular recreation area. The sculptures are made from cast iron, bronze and granite, and the surface of the granite sculptures is amazingly smooth. A visit to the park is highly recommended.

Water and leaves

Last week it rained for several days. This late in the autumn very little of the water is absorbed by the vegetation, and by now the ground is saturated with water. Small streams and creeks appear all over the place and create opportunities for capturing a great shot. I think this one worked out quite well.

Bare branches

The scene in itself was nothing special, but I happened to catch a glimpse of the reflection as I walked by. The tiny ripples and waves on the water surface made the image a little more interesting. Processing the image I increased the saturation slightly and added a little more contrast to emphasize the reflection of the branches.

Flatdal, Norway

I have driven past this scene numerous times on my way from Oslo to the west coast along route E134. This is shot from roadside just as you cross over from Hjartdal and make your way down towards Flatdal, looking south down the Flatdal valley. The light was a flat and the image a bit dull so I used CaptureOne's local adjustments to emphasize the valley floor and tone down the hillsides.

Reflections

This picture is taken at just before 10 PM early in July on the shores of a fjord on the western coast of Norway. I just caught a glimpse of the scene driving past, and decided to stop and shoot a few frames. And being mid summer, there was enough light to freeze the reflections.
