The mining shaft of the Olav´s mine outside Røros, Norway
Wood shingles are thin pieces of wood used to cover roofs or, as here, walls to protect them from the weather. These wood shingles are weather-beaten and almost falling apart. The logs underneath seem to be in good shape though.
