Views of Norway

Autumn in Lofoten

Back again after a week in the Lofoten islands which was the reason for lack of posts last week. I am sifting through the images from the trip, and I'll start with this image and post a few more over the coming weeks.

The view here is towards the west over Hopsvatnet from the road to the small community Hopen, The mountains in the background are part of Lyngværfjellet with Rørvikskaret on the left.

At Haukelifjell one Year later

About this time of year last year I posted a couple of images from Haukelifjell, a mountain range on the way from the eastern to the western part of south Norway.  This image is taken a bit further west than the two images I posted last summer.

The images from last year were taken a couple of weeks earlier than this one, and the air was warmer and the snow melting. This year conditions were quite the opposite. The weather was a lot colder and the road was closed due to snow storms the day before and the the after I drove across.

Monster Pylons

Power production in Norway is mainly hydropower based, but the production is not located where most people live. This means that the electricity have to be transported to where the main part of the population live. To do so you have to have massive cables and pylons like you see here. They are not pretty, but they are a necessary evil for modern day life as we know it.
