Art by Accident
I guess “art by accident” is a phrase all who have are doing creative work, or are interested in creative work, are familiar with. Making mistakes is part of the game. We all make mistakes, and it is a good way to learn if you are able to look upon it as a learning experience.
This image is the result of a mistake. It is overexposed by at least five stops, but the combination of software and camera made it possible to retrieve a lot more detail from the RAW file than I had hoped. And the result is more to my liking than what I was able to achieve with a shot with a “correct” exposure.
Few are willing to admit that some of their work is art by accident. And I can understand why. If someone characterises your work as “art by accident”, then it’s not a compliment.
Mondrian on the Beach
There was just something with this detail from a beached log which reminded me of Piet Mondrian's strict geometric painting, like for example "Tableau I" and "Composition with Red, Yellow and Blue"
