Patterns in the Snow

The patterns which had formed on this wall of snow, eroded by the wind and thawed by the warm air, reminds me of the installation "The Other Wall" by the danish-icelandic artist Ólafur Éliasson in the foyer of the Oslo Opera House. I have posted a few images of the installation earlier. They should be tagged "Oslo Opera House"

It has been quite hot here over the past couple of weeks, and I have to admit that I long for some rain and cooler weather now. But it seems to be so hot that showers and thunderstorms dissipate as soon as they start to move in over the town, and the forecast indicates that we will have to wait a few more days before this heat wave ends.

Power production in Norway is mainly hydropower based, but the production is not located where most people live. This means that the electricity have to be transported to where the main part of the population live. To do so you have to have massive cables and pylons like you see here. They are not pretty, but they are a necessary evil for modern day life as we know it.
The Old House

This is an image from a recent road trip with the British photographer Steve Gosling and his wife. We came across this derelict house in the little village Marifjøra in Sognefjorden. A nice old house, but now apparently abandoned and neglected.

About a year ago I shot a series of images at and inside the Oslo Opera House. I visited the Opera House again a few weeks ago as part of a "photo walk" with a friend of mine. I still find the installation "The Other Wall" quite fascinating.
