Patterns in the Snow

The patterns which had formed on this wall of snow, eroded by the wind and thawed by the warm air, reminds me of the installation "The Other Wall" by the danish-icelandic artist Ólafur Éliasson in the foyer of the Oslo Opera House. I have posted a few images of the installation earlier. They should be tagged "Oslo Opera House"

About a year ago I shot a series of images at and inside the Oslo Opera House. I visited the Opera House again a few weeks ago as part of a "photo walk" with a friend of mine. I still find the installation "The Other Wall" quite fascinating.

Just one more post from the Opera House to get back on track again. I have been out of town for a few days, and I will tell you more about that in the upcoming posts. Stay tuned. This is a slightly different take on the oak panels covering the walls in the foyer area, again with the low angle of the sun emphasizing the pattern of the oak staves.

This is from the roof of the building. I like the way the light emphasizes the braille like pattern on the metal plates covering the wall.

A couple of days ago I went downtown to visit the Oslo Opera House to make a few shots. The building designed by the architect firm Snøhetta (Wikipedia or company site) has quickly become popular destination for tourist visiting Oslo. The images for this panorama are taken from the end of the footbridge leading from the Central Station to the Opera House. The footbridge will be removed soon as the road beneath it has been closed.
