Straws

Fading Summer Light

Summer is fading fast, and the fall is a few short weeks away. Days can still be warm, but nights are cool and the air is clear. It’s a nice time of the year.

This image is taken with one of my older cameras, which is heavy, bulky and cumbersome to work with. Usually I use a tripod when I’m photographing with this camera, but I’ve never been a big fan of tripods. It’s too much faff and I get a chance to think twice about the motif, and then I loose sight of what caught my attention in the first place. This time I decided to leave the tripod at home, and test if my hands were stady enough.

Ten Years

Then years ago, on September 17th 2012, I published my first image on this webpage, an image with a similar composition, or framing, as this one. This image is perhaps not as simplified, or abstract, as the ten year old image. But to me there is a link between the two. The placement of the main subject within the frame is similar, and the contrast between the subject and the background is echoed.

(All posts, with a few exception, are still here. They are part of my photographic journey, and I have decided to leave them here for the time being. I don't expect anyone to flip through them all though.)
