The winter season lasted a bit longer this year than the previous couple of years. And just as we thought spring had arrived we have had a few winter weather re-runs.

As the sunlight hits the wall at a shallow angle, it accentuates the pattern left by the pinewood planks from the formwork on this concrete wall. The pattern looks, in an od way, like some form of ornament.
Is Winter Coming
We are already past mid November, but so far it has been mild and rainy. I had hoped to be able to catch a few images of the early frost and thin sheets of ice. But so far we have hardly had any frost at all. So here is one from last winter.
Early Warning
A week is still left of March, but spring is already here. Which is about a month earlier than we would expect. We have had an unusually mild winter here. We have hardly had any snow, and we have only had a few days where temperatures have been below 0˚C both night and day. We have had mild winters before, but this is something completely different. And it does feel ominous.
Wintertime
At the latitude where I live, the sun barely rises above the horizon this time of year. During the day the sun rises to just under 10 degrees above the horizon. (If you hold your hand at arm's length and close one eye, the width of your fist covers about 10 degrees of your field of view.) Dawn and dusk stretches out in time and the light is soft and warm, yielding nice sunrises and sunsets.

Impression
Sometimes a subject may make a stronger impression if you avoid looking directly at the subject. By focusing on the impression the subject makes, for example its shadow as in this image, or its silhouette, some details may become obscured and other details may become more pronounced. And you may see a side of the subject you have not payed much attention to.
