Sometimes you just need to pay attention, and out of nowhere an opportunity emerges. A boat had just passed, and I happened to look in that direction and saw the waves echoing the rock formation.
With a fast shutter speed the waves, ripples and braking up of the thin sheet of water flowing over the edge of this fountain becomes visible. And to me it looks like a sheet of glass breaking up.
Gentle waves and ripples on water can create nice, distorted reflections. I have published a few examples of this in the past. But for some reason those images seem a bit stale, perhaps even "old". So I decided to prolong the exposure to make the images a bit more abstract. And here is an example of the images I got from this slightly different approach.
This is a variation, or interpretation if you will, of a subject I have published images of before. The combination of shallow water, waves and light creates wonderful patterns of light and shadows.
